Moser Baer is known for selling movies on optical discs as well as digital storage at fairly low prices in India. Now the company has announced that it will introduce USB Flash drives with pre-loaded movies on them. With storage capacity of 4GB, new Moser Baer USB drives with pre-loaded movie will cost about Rs. 680. As of now, there's no clarification on whether the movie files will have any DRM. These USB flash drives would be available by the end of this month.
Iin January, Moser Baer had introduced microSD cards preloaded with movies and songs. And now, it's time for USB drives. So far, only 10 Bollywood blockbuster movies are being listed for the 4GB USB drives that will accommodate only one of those movies. As of now, there's no clarity on whether you can take a backup of the pre-loaded movie on PC and then use the USB drive solely as storage.

Selling storage media with pre-loaded multimedia would gradually become a norm and that might lead to the demise of optical storage eventually. Optical discs might continue to sell alongside the digital version of movies.
