All-in-one PCs are ideal when you have space constraints, and if you don’t want to deal with all the cable clutter. Also, if you want something compact and sleek for your lifestyle office, nothing beats an all-in-one. But again, traditionally, an all-in-one PC could burn a hole in your pocket. However, gradually, that’s about to change very soon. Or, perhaps it already has;
Design
In addition to excellent value for money, aesthetics is one of the strongest points of the Lenovo C200 all-in-one PC. It has a piano-black glossy surface all over and the machine is pretty slick in its overall appearance. The bottom, where the frame ends, or rather extends as the speaker grill, looks pretty neat. Even the sides are well-beveled towards the rear of the unit. The only thing we found a bit tacky was the screen border between the frame and the panel. However, we’re being a bit too picky perhaps because the machine looks really good for the price it is offered at. Speaking of which, the keys on the keyboard are kind of not to the mark, nevertheless, we didn’t have trouble typing. The mouse works perfectly fine. In terms of design and aesthetics, the machine definitely looks more expensive than just 22K.
Features
The C200 is clearly an entry-level PC for basic home or office use, which is why it uses very modest hardware, able to handle basic applications. It is powered by an Intel Atom D410 CPU, which is clocked at 1.66 GHz and has 512 KB cache. There’s 2 GB RAM, a 250 GB hard drive (pretty good for a basic machine), Intel GMA 3150 graphics, a DVD writer and a crisp 18.5-inch screen (not touch screen, thankfully). Considering the Rs 21,900 price, we’d say it’s a good machine with all the features required for a basic machine. Onward, the back panel has the power jack, PS2, LAN and 2 USB ports. On the left-hand side, you’ll see 2 USB ports, audio jacks and a memory card reader. The DVD drive is on the right-hand side. Finally, the PC ships preloaded with Windows 7 Starter and bundles with it a wired mouse and keyboard combo.
Performance
The performance of this machine isn’t any better than that of a nettop or netbook. We tried playing a 720p movie clip but the playback was not smooth at all. However, videos of lower resolution played just fine, quite smooth actually. Standard applications like Microsoft Office and so on, should be perfectly fine on this machine.
Personal Take
I strongly recommend this machine for people who want an all-in-one computer for office purposes. Surfing the Internet, chatting, emails and such are what this machine is good at. In fact, the biggest plus point is that you’re getting a 18.5-inch screen and a DVD drive, so watching movies is also sorted. For approximately Rs. 22K, I’d say it’s definitely a good pick. The price range of this machine starts from Rs. 20,190.
