now sugata will never be able to enter kuwait

Looks like the Middle East is fixated on banning stuff; and this time, they’ve done something seemingly pointless. Sure, they couldn’t do jack about the Blackberry ban after RIM gave in to their demands, but Kuwait has officially banned digital SLR cameras. Why? Well, there’s no reason been given out so far, but I’m sure there are going to be a lot of people who don’t like this one bit. However, members of the press are still going to be allowed the use of DSLRs

Weapon of mass suspicion?

This ban has been implemented by the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Social Affairs and Ministry of Finance according to the Kuwait Times. What’s weird about this ban is the fact that they’ve only chosen to ban DSLRs, and not camera phones and normal digital cameras. I’m dying to known the reason behind this ban. Apparently, a big black camera tends to be a little conspicuous, and scares people. Majed Al-Saqer said that sometimes people stop him while he is in his car with his camera, as if he were planning to kill someone with it. So no one knows if this ban is due to the size of the camera or because pictures of other people are being taken.
