intel discontinuing several CPUs

According to various sources, Intel will be phasing twenty one 45nm CPUs to make way for their replacements as well as make a smooth transition to the Sandy Bridge platform. The CPUs which were issues PDN (Product discontinuance notice) and date for EOL (End Of Life) are as follows.

Leap Ahead.

The Core i7-975X got the notice earlier this quarter with end of lifecycle (EOL) to take place in the first quarter of 2011, while the Core i5-750 will see PDN in the first quarter of 2011 and EOL in the third quarter.

For 45nm Quad Core CPUs, The Core 2 Quad Q9650 has already received its PDN while the Core 2 Quad Q9300, 9505 and Q8400 will receive PDN in the third quarter. Core 2 Duo E8600 and E8500 will see PDN in the third quarter with Core 2 Duo E7500 and E7600 scheduled to have PDN in the second quarter and EOL in the fourth quarter.

Several entry level products have also received PDN and EOL dates. These include the Pentium E6300 and the E6600.To replace these CPUs, Intel will be releasing a bunch of new CPUs such as Core i7-2600 and 2500, Core i5 2400 and 2300. The Core i3-2120 and 2100 will round off the Dual Core Offerings.
