donkeys getting better wage than human???????????????????

Who said donkeys can not earn well? Here's something that would make animal rights activists smile but cheese off many hard working employees. The much-flogged beast of burden is paid a handsome Rs 250 per day in Panchkula, Haryana. This is better than what many state government contract employees, such as a patwari, nurse or a computer operator, get.

And this is all thanks to the rates fixed for 2010-2011 by the office of the deputy commissioner for engaging the animals for the daily grind. A patwari, who deals with revenue matters of the district and state, gets only a meagre amount of Rs 220 per day. It is not just the once coveted post of patwari that is at loss, there are many more. There are security guards, computer operators, watchmen and gardners, who are paid less than a donkey, or a mule.

A nurse too gets less. After completing a three-year course, a nurse gets a temporary job in Panchkula where one is paid Rs 210 per day. A watchman, gardner and computer operator get only Rs 200 as daily wages. A copy of government rates has already been sent to all the departments for implementation, an official said.
