MNP guideline from COAI

COAI(cellular operators association of india) was created as the national consortium of cellular operators of india in 1995.It is a very powerful lobby and this influences the govt decisions regarding mobile industry in india to a great extent. The most powerful members of this organisations are airtel, vodafone(previously hutch),and idea. There are other members too like aircel, videocon but COAI mainly looks after the interest of the previously mentioned 3 companies. This created a rift in the association few years back and reliance and tata amongst others left the organisation to form AUSPI.
Mainly due to COAI's strong opposition, indian government was not able to start mobile number portability(MNP) for a long time. After a long battle,MNP finally started in whole india this year.
The resulting data for the first two months are just coming out. This shows some interesting trend-except andhrapradesh(where BSNL is the champion) vodafone is the largest beneficiary of the programme in most states including west bengal.Idea and airtel are not much left behind.Greatest loser is the reliance GSM.
Seeing this COAI now decided to promote MNP leaving aside its initial reluctance. One of the approach is to publish commercials so that common users can understand the whole procedure easily. The attached video is one such commercial.MNP is explained in quite simple terms here.
