facebook introduces 'sponsored stories'-bye bye privacy

FB is starting a service called "Sponsored Stories" which is a little bit like Twitter's "Promoted Tweets". The concept is simple. When you 'like' something on Facebook, be it a non-profit like Amnesty International or a product like Levi's, or even if you check in to a place like McDonald's via Facebook Places, if the company's signed up and paid for "Sponsored Stories", your activity will show up on your friends' news feed like an ad.They're literally closing in on user generated content for advertising.

Since Places doesn't exist outside the States, in a country like ours, we're bound to be bombarded with one sided advertising from our friends' 'Likes'.

so bye bye privacy, welcome new form of 'spam'.
