character limit of label in gmail increases

One of the (i'll not say best but) important and useful feature of gmail is 'label'.until recently,the character limit of 'label' was 40.Now google changed this to 225,almost 5 times increment all at once!!!!!!!!!
40 character limit was quite sufficient for me;so i was wondering about the need of such an increment.The answer is

The old limit was 40 characters, which wasn’t enough for some people who had switched from Outlook or accessed Gmail through IMAP.

If the 'label' is too large,gmail will shorten it to avoid the cluttering of mailbox.Just hover the mouse over the label and the full label will be visible.Plus you could always use colors to better distinguish your labels from each other.
